By submitting a photo image through the MyPhoto web site, you are agreeing to these terms and conditions. If you do not accept these terms, please do not proceed with the image submission.
If you choose not to proceed, you will be required to visit the Campus Card Services office at 72 5th Ave, Lower Level (between 13th and 14th Street) to have your photo taken and your card produced. However, this may result in long wait times and lines, and your image will be used in the same way.
We may update these terms and any changes will be effective immediately.
About the ID card
The newcard, The New School's official identification card, gives you access to university buildings and services at various campus facilities, including academic technology labs, libraries, the equipment center, vending, and select laundry locations. You must present your newcard when you attend events on campus. If you participate in the Dining Dollars or Newcard Cash programs, your newcard can be used as a debit card at campus dining facilities and, with Newcard Cash, certain off-campus merchants. You can also use your newcard to receive student discounts at many local businesses and venues.
Your newcard is the property of The New School and remains valid as long as you are a registered student or active employee.
How we will use your photo image
The digital photo image that you submit via this website will be used to produce your ID card. It will also be the profile picture for your private login page at my.newschool.edu. This is a private profile photo, and nobody will be able to see your my.newschool.edu page.
Other uses of your image
By submitting this photo for your newcard, you agree that this photo may be used by certain faculty members, the security department, and other departments of the New School in order to verify your identity. Student photos will never be published, or distributed to the public or other students.
All faculty and staff photos are automatically uploaded to the university directory. The university directory is public, but it is not Google-searchable, so the directory photo will not show up in Google Image search results of your name.
Additionally, some faculty members will also have their photos displayed on faculty bio pages in certain departments at the New School. These bio pages are public, and they will show up in Google search results. For questions about these policies, or about how to update the departmental bio text on faculty bio pages, please contact your department administrator. To request that your entry be removed entirely from the university directory and faculty bio pages, contact the Human Resources department at hrhelp@newschool.edu.

Please contact us if you have questions about our policies at (212) 229-5300 x4472 or newcard@newschool.edu. Email is preferable, we may experience high phone traffic during peak months.
ID Card Policies
You are expected to carry your newcard at all times while on campus. Your newcard is the property of The New School and remains valid as long as you are a registered student or active employee. Use of the nontransferable newcard is governed by The New School's regulations and, like all university property, it must be surrendered upon request. Your newcard will be confiscated if it is misused or carried by someone other than the authorized user. When you graduate or take a leave of absence from The New School, your newcard will no longer be valid; however, if you return for another program of study at The New School, or return from a leave of absence, your card will automatically reactivate when you register for courses.
Faculty and staff should never dispose of their cards; any staff or faculty cards that are not currently functional must be returned to Card Services, where they will be retained in the event of future use by that individual.
